Standards we formulate to
No gatekeeping. Just the formula.
ÄRIÂZ fragrances are oil-based blends of naturally derived materials and safe synthetics — never drying alcohols. We publish the full list because if we were you, we'd want to know exactly what's sitting on your skin all day.
- Drying alcohol
- Parabens
- Phthalates
- Animal testing
- Per-scent detail
Scent-specific notes and claims live on each product page.
- Allergen marker
An asterisk (*) flags a material listed as a potential allergen under EU fragrance rules.
- Packaging wins
Formulas evolve. Always treat the list on your carton as the source of truth.

Specific claims live on each product page. Packaging is always the source of truth.
Ask us anything
If a material isn't on this page, it isn't in the bottle. Questions about a specific blend? Our team answers every message.
Why is your perfume oil-based?
Oil sits closer to the skin, lasts longer on clothes and skips the alcohol sting — so no drying, no burn.
What does “safe synthetic” mean?
A lab-made material used within IFRA-recommended limits. Synthetics let us build notes without over-harvesting natural sources.
Are ÄRIÂZ fragrances vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes — no animal-derived materials and no animal testing at any stage.
I have sensitive skin. Where do I start?
Patch test on your inner arm for 24 hours, and check the asterisked materials against any known allergens before you spray.
Ingredients we say no to
Confused by ingredient names you can't pronounce? You're not alone. Here's every material banned from an ÄRIÂZ formula — what it is, where it hides, and why we leave it out.
1, 4 Dioxane
What is it
A compound that’s formed when ethylene oxide is combined with other substances to make them more tolerable.
Where it's found
Sudsy products such as liquid soap, shampoo and bubble bath as well as hair relaxers. 1,4 Dioxane is not included on ingredient lists because it’s formed when common ingredients react to each other.
Why we say no
It’s easily absorbed into the skin, likely causes cancer and is thought to be toxic to organs.
What we use instead
A coconut-derived oil base means no ethoxylated ingredients — and nothing for this by-product to form from.
Acetaldehyde
What is it
An organic compound with a fruity smell that can be suffocating when highly concentrated.
Where it's found
Naturally found and broken down in the body, it can also be found in ripe fruit, bread and coffee, and is produced by plants.
Why we say no
It can cause cancer and is an eye and respiratory irritant.
What we use instead
Whole botanical extracts that give the same fruity lift without isolated aldehydes.
Acetone
What is it
A flammable solvent (a substance that helps dissolve other substances) often used to manufacture plastics.
Where it's found
Most often seen in nail polish remover but also found in household and cleaning products.
Why we say no
Acetone is an eye irritant and prolonged exposure can cause fainting or sickness.
What we use instead

Acetonitrile
What is it
A very volatile solvent (a substance that helps dissolve other substances), also a skin-conditioning agent (a substance that improves the look and feel of dry or damaged skin).
Where it's found
Used to create pharmaceuticals and the manufacturing of photo film. It’s also been used in nail polish remover

Cyclic Silicones D4, D5, D6
What is it
Ring-shaped silicone compounds that evaporate quickly.
Where it's found
Hair conditioners, anti-perspirants, skin-conditioning agents that are emollients (substances that make skin appear soft and smooth by acting as lubricants), and solvents (substances that help dissolve other substances).
Why we say no
They may cause serious endocrine issues and are known to cause bioaccumulation (when chemicals build up in living things).
What we use instead
Light plant esters and squalane for the same silky slip on skin.
Ethanolamines DEA, TEA, MEA, ETA
What is it
Emulsifiers (substances that help create emulsions of other substances) and pH adjusters (substances used to manage the pH of cosmetics products)
Where it's found
Shampoos, hair conditioners, soaps, cosmetics, lotions, shaving bcreams, household cleaners, dyes, pharmaceutical ointments and sunscreen.
Why we say no
DEA is a carcinogen and can cause liver tumors, while TEA and MEA may be linked to cancer.
What we use instead
Nothing — our oil-based blends never need foam boosters or emulsifier systems.
Gluten
What is it
A combination of two proteins in wheat and cereal grains that give elastic properties to dough.
Where it's found
Grains and starches such as wheat, wheat germ, barley and rye. Can also be found vitamins, toothpaste, some skin care products and lipsticks.
Why we say no
We exclude gluten from all of our products to benefit those who are sensitive to gluten or celiac.
What we use instead
A fully gluten-free supply chain — every botanical and carrier is vetted before it enters the lab.
Methyl Cellosolve Methoxyethanol
What is it
Solvents (substances that help dissolve other substances) and agents that decreases the thickness of fluids.
Where it's found
Paints, varnishes, dyes, lacquer for paper and leather, and some nail polishes.
Why we say no
They irritate the eyes and can irritate the skin. They can also affect the central nervous system, blood, bone marrow, kidney and liver.
What we use instead
Modern, skin-safe solvents with none of the blood and liver toxicity.
Methylene Chloride
What is it
A solvent (a substance that helps dissolve other substances)
Where it's found
Used in paint removal, cleaning and degreasing metal, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Why we say no
It’s a poison that affects the central nervous system and may be a carcinogen.
What we use instead
Food-grade, plant-derived solvents used only for extraction and dilution.
Parabens
What is it
: Preservatives used in food, cosmetics or pharmaceutical products to prevent the growth of bacteria.
Where it's found
Food, makeup, hair care products, moisturizers, shaving cream, toothpaste and more.
Why we say no
They can cause allergic reactions upon skin contact. Parabens can also accumulate in the environment and in animals as they travel into the sewage systems after being washed out from products people use.
What we use instead
Nothing — our oil base holds no water, so it needs no preservative system.
Phthalates
What is it
Plasticizers (substances that increase flexibility and decrease breakability of a material) and solubilizers (substances that help make an ingredient dissolve).
Where it's found
